World Cup hat-tricks: the rare feat
Scoring three in a single World Cup match is a rare feat, and one player owns the most famous example of all.
The only final hat-trick
England's Geoff Hurst remains the only player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final — his treble against West Germany won the 1966 final.
A rare club
Across the whole history of the tournament, only a few dozen hat-tricks have been scored. They tend to come against the tournament's weaker sides early on, which makes Hurst's final-day treble all the more remarkable.
